Every Monday morning I gather on a zoom with about 40 women from all over the country. Two things we have in common; we love Jesus and we are building our health coaching business together. Make it three things, we all desire to grow. This past Monday, God interrupted our conversation. Before I began I felt the tug in my heart to talk less and listen more. Someone needed to be seen this morning and obedience always wins the day. Which is exactly what the first girl to share had to say. The Lord had called her out of comfort. Out of wealth, nice things, easy money and security she had known for a few years into trust. The ‘all in’ kind of faith that requires selling your things and giving up ease. The kind of dependence that has a path but isn’t sure exactly where it will lead and what exactly it will provide. The kind of belief that says no matter what, I will follow. “The Lord gives and the Lord takes away, BLESSED be the name of the Lord."
As she shared, tears rolled down my cheeks. This is the kind of faith I have. This is the life I receive. And these are the girls that I want to be surrounded by. The kind of girls who pursue the abundance of Jesus knowing full well this kind of wealth does not equal things. Jesus first. Always. What we might want versus what God can do. Jesus first. Always.
“So above all, constantly seek God’s kingdom and his righteousness, then all these less important things will be given to you abundantly” Matthew 6:33
I pray this year be the year of INCREASE. Increase for me and for YOU. Increase is who God is. The bible speaks of God as a man of means, a God of production, a wealth ranger, a party thrower, a food and drink multiplier.
“Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end” Isaiah 9:7
This is what God has for me and for YOU. And in order to step into what is next for you, you have to leave behind what was. All in. Burn the ships. The last season of spiritual growth, blessing, provision, impact, health was good. But now it is time to fully depend AGAIN.
“He cares for the branches connected to me by lifting and propping up the fruitless branches and PRUNING every FRUITFUL branch to yield a greater harvest.” John 15:2
The focus of our lives is not what has slipped through our fingers. It is not to just sit in the comfort of past success. Rather the focus of our lives should be on what is to COME. God is bringing INCREASE.
Pruning is actually God’s reward for abundance. He cuts back even what has been good so we can bear more fruit. Fruit brings God glory. And all glory belongs to God.
Today I urge you to stop talking about what’s been pruned. And start talking about what’s coming. It’s time to pray for your capacity to receive.
