I put on a pair of jeans today. Second time in, well, I’m not sure how long. I’m considering this a win! Four weeks in quarantine and my jeans still fit. This may be a season you are throwing caution to the wind and eating ‘all the things’. Honestly, I’m not trying to come out of this with a six pack. I realize the stress of this pandemic is creating disruption in your life that no one could be prepared for. We are all doing the best we can juggling office jobs that are now at home jobs and for some, careers that seem to be coming to an end. We have kids at home with academic needs we aren’t equipped (or even want) to meet. We are wrestling with relationships that are all crammed into confined walls and missing those that isolation won't allow us close to. I know there are many resources offering ways to help you cope. I myself have tapped into my faith, virtual friendships and any fitness my driveway and neighborhood walks can provide. One thing that has been predictable for me in all the uncertainty is what to eat. I am attempting to stay sane and use nutrition as my intervention to do exactly that, while considering it my intake that is as good as medicine.
In 2013 my life had a different disruption. Nothing like a pandemic. But none the less, a bit of a freak out. After a few nights staring at the ceiling and long conversations filled with, "why God and what now?" I made a pivot. I set out to add joy, increase faith and build hope in others. What started out as a journal of my thoughts on these very issues became the release of my first book, "Thrive: Growing Through Life's Greatest Challenges." This opened opportunities to travel and speak, using my voice to encourage others in their struggles. That led to becoming a certified coach to people across the country and beginning a nationwide ministry and business called "Jen Jones Direct."
I'm enthusiastic about meeting people at the point of their potential. I love exploring the dreams they want to fulfill and helping them connect that to strategic next steps to see them become reality. Helping others take control of their health, both mentally, physically and spiritually, is where I shine. I'm glad my jeans fit today. But it's not about the denim. It's about healing, support, purpose and a plan. It's about extending this offer to you. I don't know if my health coaching is a good fit for you. But I'm committed to keep on serving through the challenges, even if it's just for one.
